Who We Are - South Atlantic Yacht Racing Association

At the South Atlantic Yacht Racing Association (SAYRA), we're more than just sailors; we're a thriving community committed to elevating the sailing experience for everyone across the regions of Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Our value proposition stands on a foundation of providing resources and opportunities which will provide distinct advantages for both organizations and individuals. SAYRA is a place where beginners and world-class athletes are welcomed and engaged; we work together to foster and strengthen skills and relationships centered around sailing in our region.

Commodore's Corner

Commodore's Corner...

Wow.  I am now halfway through my last year as Commodore.  Time flies. ‘Tis the season for championships!

Congratulations to Alan Taylor (Lake Townsend YC) and Chuck Carroll (Carolina SC) for their top-5 finishes in this year’s U.S. Multihull Championship for the Hobie Alter Cup, and to all seven (7) SAYRA competitors.  And a job well done to Columbia Sailing Club (CSC) for the stellar event (Results & Write-up).  Hosting a US Sailing championship is hard work, but without clubs like CSC stepping up, these events for “recreational” sailors will wither and die.  US Sailing is always looking for championship hosts; if your club is interested, find out more here.
