Who We Are - South Atlantic Yacht Racing Association

At the South Atlantic Yacht Racing Association (SAYRA), we're more than just sailors; we're a thriving community committed to elevating the sailing experience for everyone across the regions of Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Our value proposition stands on a foundation of providing resources and opportunities which will provide distinct advantages for both organizations and individuals. SAYRA is a place where beginners and world-class athletes are welcomed and engaged; we work together to foster and strengthen skills and relationships centered around sailing in our region.

Commodore's Corner

Your SAYRA Executive Committee has been busy, and the information in this newsletter shows what they have been working on.  Of note at the moment regarding adult championships are

  • SAYRA Open & Women’s Club Championships August 16 & 17, 2025.  This year’s event will be sailed in College of Charleston J/22s; see below for details.   Another huge thank you to Champs sponsors ChYCCYC-1853CYC-SCCharleston Race Week, and Evolution Sails for their support, which has allowed the event registration to be affordable.
  • 2025 US Sailing Adult Championship (aka Mallory Cup) September 26-28.  The NOR was posted recently.  It will also be sailed in J/22s, in Park City, Utah.  As with the past few years, qualification to represent SAYRA—and your home club—will be via resume submitted to our RSA Representative Windy Key.  Keep an eye on the website for details, coming soon.
