SAYRA Judges' Forum
The SAYRA Judges' Committee holds quarterly Judges' Forums via Zoom.
When: The next forum is scheduled for August 25 with one more scheduled this year for November 17.
Time: 6 PM to 7:30 PM
Who: All SAYRA judges, judges in training, and judge prospects.
Format: Zoom
Topics: Many topics are being planned. Warren Collier will begin each of this year's forum with a deep dive into several sections of the US Sailing Judges' Manual. Other topics may include: resources for judges, tips on chairing a hearing, Appendix P, Rule 42, and much more. The structure of the forums will not be rigid. For example, if a topic comes up during discussion that takes off, we will run with it.
Please mark your calendars. The Zoom link will be emailed to you the Monday or Tuesday before the forum.
May 26 2020 forum recap: Edith Collins was recognized for her being highlighted in US Sailing's Weekly Lift. A discussion on ECOS followed with a review of the Coast Guard's Question and Answer sheet and the SAYRA recommended paragraph for Notice of Races held in SAYRA. A review of the SAYRA Judges' website and the Race Management website followed. Finally, Chapter Four of the US Sailing Judges' Manual Was covered.
March 31 2020 forum recap:
Eleven SAYRA judges participated. The judges' forum concept was shared. Warren Collier covered chapters 1, 2, and 3 of the US Sailing Judge's Manual. Chapters 4 and 5 will be covered on May 26. Open discussion followed Warren's presentation.
