NOTICE OF RACE 

 

As this event is limited to the use of 10 J22 yachts (under the stewardship of CHYC and College of Charleston), each club will be required to apply for the respective fleet(s) they wish to race in. Applications will be considered in the order which they are received.

The Entry fee for each team shall be $300.00 which includes 3 day Boat Charter, competitors banquet, welcome and awards receptions for all competitors.

Skippers will be required to provide a refundable damage deposit via check to College of Charleston Sailing in the amount of $500.00. Skippers/Clubs are responsible for damage to boats.

NOR 4.4   Each team shall be made up of the following: club members, family of club members, club employees, or other individuals that have a strong connection to the club. Exceptions to this rule shall be made at the discretion of the Organizing Authority and shall only be made if the exception will benefit the event.


NOR Section 10. RISK STATEMENT AND BORROWED BOAT DAMAGE

  1. Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. (See RRS 3, Decision to Race). The
  2. Organizing Authority, SAYRA has BURGEE coverage by Gowrie. 
  3. ‘The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue to race is hers alone.’ By participating in this event each competitor agrees and acknowledges that sailing is a potentially dangerous activity with inherent risks. These risks include strong winds and rough seas, sudden changes in weather, failure of equipment, boat handling errors, poor seamanship by other boats, loss of balance on an unstable platform and fatigue resulting in increased risk of injury. Inherent in the sport of sailing is the risk of permanent, catastrophic injury or death by drowning, trauma, hypothermia or other causes.
  4. The Skipper shall be responsible for the conduct of their crew. In the event of a serious breach of conduct, the destruction of property or the failure to comply with a reasonable request of any Race Official, the Skipper/Club will be responsible for all damages and the team may be subject to disqualification from the regatta.
