SAYRA Commodore's Letter May 2019

When I was in high school and college back in the 70’s, the Commodore of SAYRA might begin this column with a comment about “the start of the racing season.”  Fact of the matter is, with the advent of technical gear, racing season is just about yearlong now, so the summer isn’t really the start of racing.  However, it does focus attention on a number of SAYRA open regattas sponsored by our member clubs.  Traveling “the Circuit” is always a ton of fun for the Key family – a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends and make new ones.  Those of us who have done it over the years know what I’m talking about.  Racing Strategy Seminar Presented by CORA and Speed & Smartsâ„¢

“You can’t always win the race, but you can always learn something that will give you a chance of winning the next race.”  The seminar will be conducted at Carolina Yacht Club on Saturday, May 18th, starting at 8:30 AM.  It is a full day session with lunch provided.  In addition to the invaluable insights from Dave, attendees will get a printed workbook and handouts for each of the two topics.  Registration is $40 for CORA members, $60 for guests, and can be done HERE via PayPal.  More information can be found on the Speed & Smarts website.  Space is limited so sign up early.  For more information, contact CORA Rear Commodore Andy Guhl.
