Fall is here! As we look forward to this season of sailing just want to thank all the clubs that have adjusted their normal schedule of events to adjust to the new normal during Covid19. Sailors have appreciated all these opportunities to get out and be a part of the sailing action. To those looking to attend or organize events, take the K.I.S.S. approach - keep it simple, sailor.
Example #1 - BYSC Pluff Mud Invitational (limited to a few regional clubs to minimize attendance) had social distancing, limited shore side 'stuff' but did have 74 sailors and 12 races over 2 days. Great job BYSC! Results HERE
Example #2 - LLSC, Thistle Old Goat event. Again, limited everything with solid safety plan and had racing... 26 boats and 4 races! Results HERE
Example #3 - Charleston Community Sailing delivered a 12 week summer sailing program. Yes 1 - 2 weeks. While I am very certain it exhausted the staff, that is what creates sailors for life - the opportunity to sail more, often! Follow them on Instagram chscommunitysailing they have some great social media posts that will make you smile!
So thank you to all the clubs, organizations and volunteers who continue to make our sport so enjoyable! We have truly adapted and delivered great experiences for our sailors!
For those clubs that are looking ahead to their winter schedules... now is a great time to get your club calendar organized and encourage MORE members to take the Basic Race Management course or have your program directors take the Head Instructor Course - all offered online. Kick start your 2021 season! Online Classes listed below.
