November notes

Busy time of the year for our sailing families and club leadership as we work towards a transition plan for 2022.  Few key items just to update you. 

  • SAYRA Special Awards - nominations are due by December 1st, more details HERE
  • SAYRA Club Jr All-Stars - Back again this year each club can submit a nomination for a female and male Jr All-Star award. One submission per SAYRA Club. Deadline December 10th - SAYRA JR ALL STAR SUBMISSION
  • Club 2022 Invoices will be sent via snail mail the week of December 6th. We will include in this mailing your 2021 Club Directory profile for any updates. Please double check emails, names and club contacts. 
  • Calendar 2022 - we are currently accepting any OPEN event schedules for the SAYRA calendar.  Please email them directly to sailings.sayra@gmail.com 
  • National Sailing Program Symposium Schedule & Event details are posted online. SAYRA discount expires December 1st and any club that is a Patron $1000, Benefactor $550 or Supporting $350 Member gets a discount on one registration. More Details at US Sailing Membership
  • SAYRA AGM details and schedule will be posted early December but the highlights include:
    • SAYRA Committee meetings will be virtual January 17th - 24th. 
    • Annual Meeting will be January 30th at the DeSoto Hotel in Savannah the morning after the closing of the NSPS event. We are piggy backing on the event space to maximize the opportunity for SAYRA leadership to participate. 

As you look forward to Thanksgiving, please know that the SAYRA Exec Com is thankful for all SAYRA Sailors and the Leadership at every organization that keeps sailing going in our region. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!

US Sailing National Coaching Symposium

The (Virtual) National Coaching Symposium is back! This year’s event, on December 14th and 15th, is open to all US Sailing members and features content from some of the top coaches in the country. This year’s lineup is headlined by sailing luminaries Paul Cayard and Luther Carpenter, and features presentations by a number of experts in the field of coaching including Kristen Dieffenbach, President of the US Center for Coaching Excellence. There are also opportunities to register for interactive webinars with subject matter experts like Dave Perry and Dr. Tim Herzog.
